Receiving Divine Healing

Faith is paramount in receiving anything from God, and healing is no exception. When it comes to healing, faith takes center stage. Hebrews 11:6 tells us that without faith, it’s impossible to please God.

Jesus paid for our physical and emotional healing just as He paid for our sins. But the conduit for receiving our healing is faith. Without faith, the heavenly system breaks down, and we miss out on what God intends for us—to be healed and whole and to live the Zoe or God kind of life!

It’s not about deserving or earning healing; it is freely given through the finished work of Jesus Christ. He paid the price for our healing, inviting us to simply believe and receive. When we approach God with childlike faith, we open ourselves to everything Jesus provided.

Jesus Himself repeatedly emphasized the power of asking in faith. In John 14:13-14, He assures us that whatever we ask in His name, He will do. Similarly, in John 15:7-8, He encourages us to abide in Him and ask according to His will, promising that our requests will be granted.

Jesus made a direct pathway to the Father, enabling us to approach Him boldly. Through faith in Jesus’ name, we can present our petitions directly to the Father, knowing that He hears and responds to our prayers.

1 John 5:14 assures us that when we pray according to God’s will, He hears us. And if He hears us, we have the assurance that our requests will be granted (verse 15).

Contrary to the notion that we must wait passively for God’s timing or endure pain and suffering until He deems fit to act, God responds to faith. We can take God at His word, confidently asking and receiving according to His promises.

We must be completely convinced of these things before we pray:

  • God wants us healed and whole,
  • Jesus has already paid for our healing,
  • And no matter what it looks like in the natural realm, we will receive our healing when we pray.

Mark 11:24 underscores the importance of belief when we pray—believing we have received what we asked for, and it will be ours. This requires us to set aside any preconceived notions, as well as any symptoms we are experiencing. This is where the breakdown is for many Christians. They pay more attention to how they FEEL than to what God’s word says.

God is a loving Father, and what loving father doesn’t want to see his children healed? So, approach God with the simplicity and trust of a child and believe you receive when you pray.

In embracing this truth, we find fullness of joy as we witness God’s faithfulness in answering our prayers. So, we can approach Him with unwavering faith, knowing we were healed by the stripes of Jesus over 2,000 years ago!

Who Himself bore our sins in His own body on the tree, that we, having died to sins, might live for righteousness—by whose stripes you were healed. —1 Peter 2:24
