If not for people, life would be nearly stress free!
One day I was thinking about and wondering how to reach a finicky, easily offended generation, and the answer came like a flash. It was spoken by Jesus as He was talking to Nicodemus in the third chapter of John. It is true, simple and positive, and it’s just what we need to reach the world today.
It is John 3:16, “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.”
Almost everyone in America has heard John 3:16, but it is just as powerful and life changing today as it ever was. It is a weapon for which there is no defense. For God so loved that He gave. That’s not offensive, no one has a problem with love and free gifts! Whoever believes in Him (Jesus) should not perish but have everlasting life. Everyone wants to avoid perishing and receive eternal life.
This is the answer cloaked in love and mercy. It’s powerful and reveals not only our message, but our mission—our attitude. For God so loved the world, and so do I!
God is not angry at the world. He’s not mad at the world, and neither am I. The world doesn’t need Christian witnesses or preachers that are angry and bitter and constantly pointing the finger of blame and condemnation.
It is only through the force of love that we accurately represent God to the world around us. Not only do we represent our God of love in this way, but we also live free from the aggravation and stress that tries to dominate our thinking while living life in these modern times.
You can’t be angry at people if you’re busy loving everyone! It’s a much better way to live. It’s God’s way. You may think that living life this way is going to cost you, but as a follower of Jesus it’s better to die loving the world than to live hating it.
Nothing will remove the stress caused by the people around you like replacing anger with love.
