Are You Ready to Find God?

According to the scriptures, there is no excuse for denying the existence of God. Just as you cannot have a work of art without an artist or a crime scene without a criminal, you cannot have a creation without a Creator. And God expects intelligent people to know this.

The evidence is so compelling that anyone who takes a look at the world around them and refuses to acknowledge the existence of God is without excuse. Notice what Paul says about this in the book of Romans: “They know the truth about God because he has made it obvious to them. For ever since the world was created, people have seen the earth and sky. Through everything God made, they can clearly see his invisible qualities—his eternal power and divine nature. So they have no excuse for not knowing God.—Romans 1: 19-20 (NLT)

The Message Bible says it this way, “But the basic reality of God is plain enough. Open your eyes and there it is! By taking a long and thoughtful look at what God has created, people have always been able to see what their eyes as such can’t see: eternal power, for instance, and the mystery of his divine being. So nobody has a good excuse.

This is Weymouth’s translation of the same passage: “because what may be known about Him is plain to their inmost consciousness; for He Himself has made it plain to them. For, from the very creation of the world, His invisible perfections–namely His eternal power and divine nature–have been rendered intelligible and clearly visible by His works, so that these men are without excuse.

Ray Comfort, a modern Christian Apologist said this in his book “How to Know God Exists”, “Every human ever born has an intellectual knowledge of God’s existence through the evidence of creation, and has a moral knowledge of God via the conscience. In truth, you’re not denying the existence of God, you’re denying the voice of your conscience.”

It’s up to each individual to follow the voice of their conscience and begin their own personal quest for the Creator. We have all been given a chance to know God, we have one lifetime in which to seek Him and find Him. Every person is given this opportunity. Some use it to find fortune, others to gain fame, followers or fans through entertainment or sports. Some use this opportunity to develop their talents or their minds. Some use it to create or discover, others to invent. But these things are just a part of the bigger picture. Unless they find God in the process, people are missing the point. They are failing to realize the very reason for their existence.

Acts 17:26-27 says, “And He has made from one blood every nation of men to dwell on all the face of the earth, and has determined their preappointed times and the boundaries of their dwellings, so that they should seek the Lord, in the hope that they might grope for Him and find Him, though He is not far from each one of us.”

The Passion Translation says it like this, “From one man, Adam, he made every man and woman and every race of humanity, and he spread us over all the earth. He sets the boundaries of people and nations, determining their appointed times in history. He has done this so that every person would long for God, feel their way to him, and find him—for he is the God who is easy to discover!

He is not hard to find, He is easy to discover. Every human has a void in his or her life that only God can fill. People have a hunger for the supernatural, a hunger for a relationship with God. It is important to follow this urge and to search, to reach out and attempt to find the Creator.

God has hidden Himself so He can be found by those who want to know Him and yet not force Himself on those who don’t.  But He is eager to reveal Himself to anyone who is hungry for Him and desires to experience His love.

The first step is to believe in His existence: Hebrews 11:6 says,  “for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him”.

God reveals the way to Himself through His Word. Even though He can’t be physically seen or felt or heard, He has left His Word to show the way to Him. And His Word is all the direction that is needed. It has worked for millions and millions of people.  Jeremiah 29:11-13 says, “…I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the Lord, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope. Then you will call upon Me and go and pray to Me, and I will listen to you. And you will seek Me and find Me, when you search for Me with all your heart.

People who haven’t found God haven’t searched for Him because, according to His word, “When you seek Him you will find Him, if you search with all your heart.” If you don’t know God, pray to Him today. Tell Him you want to know Him, ask Him to reveal Himself to you. Decide to accept His free gift of salvation.

Your search will ultimately lead you to Jesus Christ. In John 14:6, Jesus said,“I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.

Romans 10:9-10 tells people exactly how to accept God’s free gift of salvation. It says, “that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.

If you’re ready to know the invisible God and begin a new life with Him, pray this prayer: God I come to you in the name of Jesus. I accept your forgiveness today for all my sins.  I believe that Jesus died for me and He was raised from the dead and I confess Jesus as my Lord and Savior. According to your word I am saved. Thank you for forgiving me and saving me today and giving me new life in Him.
