There is only One who is truly fit to rule the world—and His name is Jesus. Yet in this present age, He has chosen to allow humanity the freedom to choose whom they will serve. This season of grace will not last forever. A day is coming when Jesus will return to rule and reign as the King of kings.
But until that day, I want to encourage you: Jesus loves His people and is always working on our behalf. Don’t mistake His invisibility for inactivity. Though we cannot always see His hand, He is deeply involved in the details of our lives. End-time events will unfold exactly as Scripture has said, yet even in the midst of all that is happening, the Good Shepherd continues to provide for and protect His flock.
Jesus reminded us in John 14:1,
“Let not your heart be troubled; you believe in God, believe also in Me.”
Refocusing Our Hearts This Christmas
As we move through the Christmas season, let’s take time to intentionally focus our hearts on Him—to “believe also in Him.” Jesus is Lord. He truly is the supreme authority over all creation. His power has not diminished. His arm has not grown weak. He watches over us continually—providing for our needs, guarding our lives, and empowering us to fulfill His will on the earth.
There is no one like Jesus, and there is no name like the name of Jesus.
“God also has highly exalted Him and given Him the name which is above every name, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow… and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.”
—Philippians 2:9–11
“For by Him all things were created that are in heaven and that are on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or principalities or powers… and in Him all things consist.”
—Colossians 1:16–17
The entire world owes its existence to Jesus—
“The blessed and only Potentate, the King of kings and Lord of lords… to whom be honor and everlasting power.”
—1 Timothy 6:15–16
The Same Jesus Is Watching Over You Today
This same Jesus—Creator, Sustainer, King—is watching over His people today. And He has entrusted His power and resources to the Church through His name. Because of what Jesus has done, a day is coming when:
“God will wipe away every tear… There shall be no more death, nor sorrow, nor crying… for the former things have passed away.”
—Revelation 21:4
Jesus is our Lord and Savior—our Shepherd, Captain, Leader, Provider, and Protector. He is our all in all. And because He is, you have every right to live, to love, and to finish your course with joy.
The world will soon be a very different place when our Savior returns. But until that glorious day, remember this: Jesus is Lord—and nothing and no one will ever change that.
